Lisa Longball

I got back from Las Vegas with 185 emails in my inbox.  How did that happen?  There is still snow on the ground, doesn’t that still officially make it the off season?  I spent the first few days back responding and putting out fires.  For a golfer I seem to spend an inordinate amount of time on the computer.

I have travelled with my sticks to McCarron airport in Las Vegas a dozen times and not once have I ever teed it up in Sin City. I usually am heading straight to Mesquite, Nevada for the ReMax World Long Drive Championships. Well not this time! This time Vegas is the destination and golf is the primary focus.

I arrived home from the Toronto Golf Show late Sunday night in the middle of a snow storm and was awoken that morning to a sick little boy.  My son Luke caught a flu bug and was feeling awful.  The beautiful thing about being a golfer in the off season, I can blow apart my day when more important things come up.

The start of the week was spent gearing up for the Toronto Golf and Travel Show.  I hit balls under heated stalls at an outdoor driving range in Calgary to groove the swing.  It is feeling good considering it is early in the season.

I also of course had girl appointments to gussy up for the show like getting my hair done.  Although I am an athlete I must admit I am such a girl when it comes to getting my hair and nails done!   I love it!  You feel pampered!

It is always tough getting back to the swing of things after being on holidays for a week.  I pretty much dropped off the grid for the first time in I don’t even know how many years.  It was nice to not be checking my phone constantly for messages or feeling the need to update Twitter or Facebook.  It made me realize maybe sometimes I am a little too “plugged in”.  Something I will work on.
